What is Bloodborne Pathogens Certification for Tattoo Artists?
The OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) standard requires all employees exposed to blood or potentially infectious materials to complete specific training. Tattoo artists, body modification practitioners, permanent cosmetic artists and others face unique risks. For this reason many states mandate extra BBP training that covers these specifics. This certification ensures you understand:
- Common bloodborne pathogens (HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C)
- Exposure control procedures (PPE, sharps, hierarchy of controls)
- Proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials
- Emergency response and post-exposure procedures
- Tattoo and piercing specific infections and dangers
- Safe disposal or bio-hazardous waste in a tattoo studio
- Disinfection and use of Autoclave equipment
This online Bloodborne Pathogens Training for tattoo artists is designed to deliver the exact content required by OSHA 1910.1033 and most US states — and helps you pass with confidence.
